We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and mission-driven professional to join our team as a Public Health Maternal Health Social Worker / Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant. This unique dual-role position combines direct support for pregnant and postpartum individuals with consultation and coaching services that promote healthy social-emotional development for infants, toddlers, and their families.

What You'll Do

Maternal Health Social Worker Responsibilities

As part of Firefly's Title V Maternal Health Program, you will:

  • Provide psychosocial support, listening visits, and non-medical care coordination to pregnant and postpartum individuals.
  • Assist families in accessing resources and navigating community support systems.
  • Interpret depression screenings and assist with Medicaid presumptive eligibility applications.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records and ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Participate in outreach and recruitment activities to increase awareness of maternal health services.
  • Support documentation reviews and quality assurance efforts.
  • Travel throughout Cass, Harrison, Ida, Mills, Monona, Pottawattamie, Shelby, and Woodbury counties to provide services.

Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant Responsibilities

As Firefly's Mental Health Consultant, you will:

  • Provide reflective consultation and coaching to Early Head Start home visitors and parent educators.
  • Observe caregiver-child interactions and provide strengths-based feedback and recommendations.
  • Support staff in addressing developmental concerns, challenging behaviors, and family stressors.
  • Assist with developmental and social-emotional screening interpretation and next-step planning.
  • Promote trauma-informed practices and relationship-based care.
  • Support compliance with Head Start Performance Standards related to mental health.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and productivity standards.
  • Provide services primarily within Pottawattamie County.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
  • Current Iowa licensure or eligibility for licensure (LCSW, LISW, LMHC, LMFT, LMSW, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, children, and families.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Preferred

  • Experience in Early Head Start, home visiting, public health, or maternal health programs.
  • Training or experience in trauma-informed care and reflective practice.
  • Knowledge of infant and early childhood social-emotional development (ages 0-3).
  • Understanding of maternal and infant mental health.
  • Familiarity with community resources and referral networks.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
